Goals in five steps
Break a goal into up to five steps with a target date, and tick them off as the days add up. See Goals
Ritual is a planner for people with more plans than days. Your tasks, habits, calendar and goals live in one app, everything you finish moves your own share price, and your friends can race you on the same chart.
The pounds are play money. Nobody ever pays for a missed task.
§ 01The problemSeven apps for one day
Tasks sit in one app, habits in another, your time in a calendar and your goals in a note you rarely open. They're all good at holding plans, and none of them notices whether you actually did the thing, so the list keeps growing while the week gets away from you.
Ritual brings all of it into one app, where anything you put in stays until you act on it, and puts a price on finishing.
§ 02The ideaHow your day is valued
Everything you plan has a value in pounds. When you do it your price goes up, and when you skip it the price slips. It's all play money, so the only thing at stake is the number.

§ 03A day in RitualOne Tuesday, hour by hour
Follow one Tuesday. Ritual holds the plan, times the work and moves your price each time you tick something off. When you lock your phone, the widget and one well-timed nudge keep you on track until the closing bell.
07:30
The day starts with a minute in the app: yesterday's close, what you got done and how your price moved, then a promise for today.

08:00
Everything you mean to do sits on one timeline, tasks and habits together, from the morning run to the evening's strength session. Every block is worth its time.

09:12
Start a focus session on the block you're in. The timer keeps running while you work and logs the time back to the essay.

11:50
Finish the essay at 10:30 and your price jumps £30. The seminar reading adds £15 more before lunch. My Stock charts every move as it happens.

14:01
Put the phone down and the plan comes with you: one nudge when Problem set 3 starts, and the time left on your Lock Screen.

16:05
The widget keeps your price, today's chart and the block you're in a glance away: up £62.23 so far, with grad applications under way.

21:30
Before midnight, the closing bell rounds up the day: tick anything you forgot, decide where the rest goes, then see where it closes. This Tuesday lands at £2,770.54, up £80.23.

§ 04The long gameOne goal, ten weeks
One day only moves your price a little. Break a goal into steps in Goals and link your tasks to it, and the time you put in each day carries you through the steps one at a time.
Week 10 · Race day · Goal complete£6,560.65▲ +£6,510.65 since the goal began
Break a goal into up to five steps with a target date, and tick them off as the days add up. See Goals
Link a task to a goal and the time you put in counts towards it, so every step has the hours behind it.
Close a day in the red, make at least that much back the next day, and the streak carries on. One off day never undoes a month.
§ 05ExchangesUp to five stocks
List your stock on an exchange with up to four friends, under a ticker you choose. Everyone starts level on the same day, so someone who joined last week races someone who's used Ritual for a year on equal terms.

Pick an open day, past or ahead. Every stock restarts at £50 on it, and an exit day ends the race if you want one.
Up days in a row multiply your gains. Each exchange keeps its own streak, counted from the open.

§ 06The appReal screens, demo account
Plan the day, keep your habits, protect your focus and work towards the long game, all in one app. Pick a screen, or switch to the student pack. If you're at uni, the free grade calculator works out what you need for a First or a 2:1.
Optional pages you switch on in Settings. Every lecture, deadline, test and interview lands on the same calendar, and feeds the same price. Read the 4.1 notes
Your price from the last 24 hours to all time, your best days and your all-time high, all worked out from what you actually did.

Drag tasks onto the day and they snap into 15-minute slots. Your habits sit beside the plan, and a ring shows how much of the day is done.

Type a task the way you’d say it, like “gym tomorrow 6pm 1h”, and it lands on Today, This week or Later. Each one shows what it’s worth before you start.

Tick any day, including the ones you forgot at the time. Every habit is sized Quick, Steady or Big, worth £4, £7 or £10 a tick, so a habit counts the same for everyone.

A focus timer tied to the task you’re working on. It keeps counting in the background and logs the time back to that task.

Business ideas, hobbies, trips and side hustles wait in Ideas, sorted onto shelves you name. When it’s time to act on one, a tap puts it on your list.

Set goals with up to five steps and track skills from beginner to mastery. Tasks you link to a goal count towards it, so you can see the time you’ve put in.

Every stock on one chart, live through the day, with the standings, your exchange streak, who you’re chasing and the morning’s paper.

An optional page for your modules: lectures, seminars, what’s due and the grades you need, with every session on your calendar in its module’s colour.

Your graduate search on one page: where each application stands, what needs you first, and time planned for every test and interview, on your calendar like everything else.

§ 07The everydayThe parts you only notice when they're missing
Each day closes at midnight. The next starts fresh, with whatever you planned for it already on the list.
On your phone and your laptop, and it works with no signal at all.
Laptop, iPhone and iPad stay in step, and neither device overwrites the other's work.
Automatic snapshots on your device and an export you can keep, so a bad sync is never a disaster.
From the founder
I've used it every day since around March. Even on my worst days, I still get something done. That wasn't true before.

§ 08Questions8 answered
No. Every price in Ritual is play money. You never pay into an exchange and you never win anything out of one. The only real money is the subscription, once Ritual is on the App Store.
All three, in one app. Your to-do list, habits with streaks, a calendar with day, week and month views, a focus timer, an Ideas page and your goals all share the same data and feed the same price.
You join as an exchange. Bring the friends you'd race with your invite link: once three of you have confirmed your emails, the exchange is listed, and listed exchanges are let in first, in batches, with full ones (five) ahead of them. Some places in every batch go to people on their own, so nobody waits forever. When your batch opens, each of you gets your own invite code by email.
Ritual is in beta now. It installs from your browser onto your phone or laptop, and people are let in from the waitlist in batches. The App Store release is planned, and the waitlist hears first when places open and when it's out.
There's nothing to pay while Ritual is in beta. On the App Store it will be a subscription, and waitlist members get a founding price, lower than at launch, for as long as they stay subscribed.
If a day closes in the red, the next one is a recovery day. Make at least that much back, from habits or tasks, and your streak carries on. It's the rule of never missing twice, built into the price.
On an exchange your friends see your price, your streak and the names of what you tick off. If you'd rather keep the details to yourself, switch names off in Settings and they just see “a task”.
Louis Baverstock, a final-year Economics, Psychology and Philosophy student at Warwick, who built it for himself during his placement year. Read why, in his own words.
§ 09JoinBefore the App Store
Ritual is in beta. Join the waitlist to hear first when places open and when it's on the App Store, and get a founding price, lower than at launch.
You join as an exchange, so bring the friends you'd race. You'll be competing with them on the chart anyway, and exchanges that fill up are let in first.
Then confirm it from your inbox, so your place counts.
Send it to the friends you'd race. You'll be on one chart with them anyway.
Batches go to full exchanges first, then listed ones, then pairs, then people on their own.
